“My house will be called. A house of prayer for all nations” — Isaiah 56:7
The Merchant continues to grow and prosper as a place of hospitality and welcome for the poor and marginalized. You never know what a day may hold, or who may walk through the door. This morning we got to spend some time with our friends Harvey and Violet. They like to stop in every couple of weeks or so to enjoy the coolness, share some conversation, and maybe grab something from our clothing room. A couple of weeks ago they shared some of their heart-breaking story with us and we were able to spend time in prayer together. We are believing good things for them in the near future. Prayer Vigil Last weekend we hosted a 48-hour prayer vigil with the Tulsa Boiler Room. Our personal prayer room was completely remodeled for the occasion and is truly an inspiring place for prayer. We now have several stations in the room to help guide people into different types of prayer and hearing from God. It is a great place of peace and solitude. We also have other spaces for group prayer and worship. You should come check it out. Our vision is to see this space opened up as a place of prayer for our city. We love the concept of prayer and mission happening together in a united and mutually supporting way. We pray in the midst of need and pain and desperation and the darkness of lives lived apart from the light of God. This prayer leads us to care for the poor and proclaim the Gospel and build friendships with people deeply loved by the Father. In turn, this engagement with the world propels us back into prayer. Friday Night Lights Each week the ministry of Friday Night Lights gathers at the Merchant to pray for an hour before hitting the streets to share the Gospel and pray with folks. They pray and they give out. Breathe in and breathe out. On the streets, their time with the Father has prepared them to be touched with compassion and to minister in power. They come back with stories of lives touched by the goodness and love of Jesus. We love this and would love to see more. Our Invitation to You You are invited to pray at the Merchant. We want to fill this place with prayer. Come and pray for our city, for the lost, for the poor, for the marginalized, for the nations. Spend time with the Father and hear again the beat of His heart for the people of the world. Enjoy intimacy with Him as you worship and intercede and listen for His voice. Write on the walls. Read the scriptures. Paint. Journal. Play music. Be creative. Enjoy Him and work with Him. We are still working on stabilizing our hours, so you may want to shoot us a text before dropping by — Tim (918.704.5085) or Paul (918.260.6605). We are moving quickly in the direction of being open for some hours in the morning and the afternoon most days. If you contact us in advance, we will try to work it out for someone to be there if possible. If you'd like to host a worship or prayer event at the Merchant — whether one-time or regular — also get in touch with us and let’s see how we can work together. Support We are in need of monthly sponsors to help pay rent and expenses to keep this ministry going. We’d so appreciate it if you’d consider helping us. We would truly love to sit down with you over a cup of coffee and share more. Please contact us if you’d like that. If you are interested in giving financially, click the button below. |
